Indian River Fentanyl Arrest Lawyer Jeffrey H. Garland
An investigation that lasted for three months resulted in 12 narcotics arrests by the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation was code named “Operation Dark Source,” and it took down a drug dealer who used the “dark web” to purchase fentanyl, heroin and methamphetamine. More than 100 grams of narcotics were seized pursuant to search warrants for three residences. “Knock and announce” raids occurred at the residences. Along with firearms, drug manufacturing and distribution equipment were also taken. The firearms seized in the operation included a .32 caliber pistol, a .380 caliber pistol and .22 caliber rifle. Both males and females were arrested. Their ages were between 26 and 56. All of the arrestees were from either Vero Beach or Sebastian.
Fentanyl, heroin and methamphetamine are all extremely powerful and dangerous controlled substances. At a minimum, possession of any of these substances is a felony in the third degree that is punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000.
Prosecutors take controlled substance charges involving fentanyl, heroin and methamphetamine very seriously. All three of the substances are highly addictive, and they account for many deaths in Florida. Indian River fentanyl arrest lawyer Jeffrey H. Garland has been representing individuals who have been accused of drug crimes along the state’s Treasure Coast, Palm Beach County and Brevard County since 1981.
No matter what the crime is that you are charged with in Florida, you are presumed innocent until such time as the state proves you guilty. The prosecution has the burden of proving you guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. You also have the right to remain silent and the right to an attorney. Unfortunately, the State of Florida allows police to lie to you and deceive you when trying to elicit a confession from you. Don’t believe anything that police tell you when you’re detained or in custody. Only prosecutors can agree to “go easy on you.”
